With the default pointer settings you can multi-select by holding Shift and dragging the selection net over the objects you want to select. This is useful for moving around many of sticky notes (or other elements) at once. When you click and drag without Shift you will either move the object you clicked or move the screen if you clicked on the board itself.

Enabling the Advanced Pointer will change this behavior so that clicking and dragging without Shift pressed will multi-select when you click on a free area of the board. If you are used to applications like Photoshop you might find this mode more comfortable.

You can still easily move around the board by dragging with right click or by pressing and holding the Space key and left click dragging. The latter is a standard interaction you will find in many canvas-like applications.

The Zone Tool allows you to add, edit or remove the zones within a board. With the tool selected, either click and drag to create a new Zone or click once to create a standard sized Zone. With a new or existing Zone you can control the title, emoji icon and Post-it color using the floating menu that appears when you select a Zone with the Move Tool.

The Insert Image Tool allows you to add an image to your board. You can use images to decorate your board or help provide instructions and annotations to your session. Enter the URL of an image and click insert. Once inserted, the image will appear at the center of your screen after which you can move and resize the image as you like.

Metro Retro loads the image from the URL provided so the link must be a direct link to an image. Be careful not to link to a page with an image on, e.g. Google Search results. The best way to get an image URL is to right click in Chrome and choose Copy Image Address. If you enter an invalid URL you will receive an error.

The Text Tool allows you to add free form text to your board. You can use it to provide instructions or information to your boards. With the tool selected, click on the board at the position you would like to add the text. The floating menu will enable you to change the font, size & color.

In Build Mode, the double click action of the Move Tool (default tool) will also create a new text element.

The Confetti Tool allows you to pop confetti. You can pop as much confetti as you like. Just be aware that everyone will see it and you might annoy your team. With the tool selected, click and drag the mouse in the opposite direction to your preferred trajectory and release when ready. The amount and force of the confetti depends on how far you pull back the mouse.

Metro Retro confetti is environmentally friendly and recycled from deleted sticky notes. When you delete a Post-it in Metro Retro, the soul of the Post-it will sent to the big retrospective in the sky. That is... unless it was a bad Post-it. Either way, the body of the Post-it is shredded and sent to the Metro Retro Confetti Storage Facility to await popping.

The Voting Tool allows you to upvote a sticky note - as many times as you like! Add votes by selecting the voting tool and left clicking on the sticky note you want to vote for. If you want to remove a vote you have cast, right click and your most recent vote will be removed. You can only remove votes that you have added to sticky notes, not the votes of others.

If you want to show the rankings of all the sticky notes with votes you can do this by clicking the Show Rankings button in the bottom left of the screen. This button only appears after the first vote has been cast. You can also clear all the votes that have been cast (by everyone) using the clear votes button.

Don't forget you can Undo any of these actions by using CTRL+Z or the Undo button at the bottom of the screen.

The Reaction Tool allows you to add an emoji response to a sticky note - as many times as you like! Add reactions by selecting an appropriate emoji from the selection box that appears when you activate the tool. Once selected, you can stamp this emoji in any position you like on any note you like.

If you want to remove emoji's that you or someone else created, you can use the emoji eraser which is available below the emoji selection box that appears when you select the Reaction Tool. To erase, click and drag over the areas where emoji's have been applied to clean the sticky note of reactions.

Don't forget you can Undo any of these actions by using CTRL+Z or the Undo button at the bottom of the screen.

The Comment Tool allows you to attach comments to sticky notes that you or others have written. Once a sticky note has a comment it will show a speech bubble icon that you can click to view or add to the comment chain. With the tool selected, click on the sticky note want to comment on. In the text input type out your comment and press Enter to save the comment. You can remove comments that are yours by hovering over them and clicking the bin icon.

The Arrow Tool is intended to help you point at sticky notes during discussion. If you are talking with your team in the same room or over voice/video conference you can use the Arrow Tool to point at the Post-it you are discussing. The arrow points at the position you start dragging from so that you can "wiggle" the mouse around if needed to draw attention but keep pointing at the same object.

The arrows are only temporary, they will disappear as soon as you click somewhere else or change tool.

The Move Tool is the primary tool (and the default tool) for both Play and Build modes. In both Play and Build modes it allows you to manipulate (move, resize where applicable and delete) objects on the board. In Play mode it is also the way you create sticky notes by double clicking with the mouse or double tapping on touch devices.

On touch devices the toolbar is hidden. The default interaction on these devices is the Move Tool but with some changes to optimize behavior for touch. Currently, you cannot use Build Mode or any of the more advanced Play mode features on tablet or mobile.

Metro Retro allows a deep level of board customization. Anything on the board you see you can change. To enable a smooth editing experience alongside a smooth participation experience, Metro Retro has two modes; Build & Play.

In Build mode you will see tools that allow you to alter sticky zones, images and text that make up the board. The primary interactions (e.g. selecting, and mutating objects) will affect only the structural elements, not the sticky notes.

In Play mode you will see tools that enable participation and collaboration. You can only interact directly with sticky notes and not the structural elements.

Use the Switch Mode button at the top of the toolbar on the left side of the board screen to switch between modes. Be aware that even though you are in Build Mode your actions are still delivered in realtime to other participants. Everyone will see the changes you are making live!

Please note that Build mode is exclusive to desktop. On tablet and mobile users are limited to the core Play Mode functionality.
