General Questions

If you have an entirely black screen when you access a board, your camera position has been placed away from the board.

Press Ctrl + 1 to return to the first zone on the board.

If you are unable to access a board and you see the message: "connection failed" or a white screen, it is likely that Metro Retro is being blocked by the security settings of your VPN or network firewall.

Please disconnect from any private network or VPN connection and try loading the board again. Alternatively you can use another device.

We can provide support if you email us at contact@metroretro.io or use the support chat.

It's super easy to contact us! You can speak to us directly via Intercom which is available by clicking the speech bubble on the bottom right corner of most screens. When you are inside a board, Intercom is behind the (?) under the Chat To Us link.

We're keen to hear from all our users to please get in touch with us if you have any issues using Metro Retro or if you'd like to give us some feedback or make a new cool feature request!

We currently have no publicly visible backlog for our users to track our product roadmap. However, this is on our internal backlog and we are looking into options to make this information available.

Email us at contact@metroretro.io if you have any questions or feature requests.

Metro Retro doesn't work offline.

Currently, you are able to create as many boards as you like and there is not a limit to the number of participants that can join a single board. This might change in the future depending on the popularity of the product. If they do we will try and notify users.

Within each board there are limits on the number of "objects" that can be created. Specfically a maximum of:

  • 500 Sticky Notes
  • 500 Images
  • 2500 Reactions
  • 500 Text Elements
  • 50 Zones

These limits exist to protect Metro Retro against abuse but have been set high enough that we do not think anyone will reasonably reach them. If you do think you hit a limit, contact us and we can help you out if your situation is legitimate.

Check the table below for device/browser compatibility:

Metro Retro currently does not directly integrate with any other products. We utilize Slack, Github and Google for login purposes, but otherwise that is it. Our paid version is in Early Access, and in the future will include integrations into other tools. Email us at contact@metroretro.io for more information.

While retrospectives are the primary use case for Metro Retro, the tool is designed to be flexible so that you can create retrospective sessions that don't use the standard templates, or to use it for something else entirely. So far we (and our pilot teams) have made:

  • Kanban Boards
  • Product Roadmaps
  • Task Tracking Boards
  • Workshop Output Boards

We actually use Metro Retro to manage the Metro Retro product backlog. It looks like this:

Nothing! Metro Retro is free to use and we want to keep it that way for as long as possible. We want people to use it and we would love people to give us feedback so we can continue to make great products. If we get to a position where we have lots and lots of people using Metro Retro and the costs grow beyond what we can manage then we may have to review this decision - but we'll let you know if that happens.

Our paid version is now in Early Access, and is separate to the free version. The paid version is an upgraded collaboration tool with:

  • New templates and tools for more meeting types, as well as retrospectives
  • New meeting facilitation controls
  • New Whiteboarding and brainstorming tools
  • New Team and organisation management and security

If you're interested in learning more about the paid version, please email contact@metroretro.io.

Metro Retro is a collaborative web application created to help teams run productive, engaging and fun retrospectives. It uses realtime updates, adaptable templates and a quirky sense of humour to emulate as closely as possible the classic paper based retrospective activity.

Users join a shared board and add sticky notes to the various categories as they would in a traditional retrospective. Initially, sticky note content is hidden to provide users a way of creating their ideas in private. Then, when they are ready, the users reveal their sticky notes to each other and discuss the ideas as a group.

There are various tools available to aid presentation and discussion including post-it highlighting, emoji reactions and pointing arrows. Once the discussion is over, the contents of the board can be exported and archived in other tools (e.g. company wiki) or just left as is - boards are always available to come back to later.
